The article “The Influence of the European Semester: Case Study Analysis and Lessons for its Post-Pandemic Transformation” by David Bokhorst (Research Fellow, WellSIre, EUI) is now out on the Journal of Common Market Studies.

Analysing the interaction between the Commission and the national bureaucratic and political levels, the piece examines whether and how the European Semester has influenced structural reforms in member states. Process-tracing techniques and case studies in Italy and Belgium are used to show the role of the Semester in terms of issue salience and agenda setting.
